in the world. She is the daughter of Leticia, "Tish," Cyrus and famed country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Miley stars in the hit Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," reaching over 164 million total viewers
worldwide and ranking for two consecutive years as the #1 series among kids 6-14 on U.S. cable TV.
In 2006, the first "Hannah Montana" soundtrack was released on Walt Disney Records, featuring eight
songs performed by Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana and Miley's first duet with her father. The album
rocketed to the top of the charts and became the first-ever TV soundtrack to debut at #1 on the
Billboard Top 200. The "Hannah Montana" soundtrack finished the year as the #8 best-selling album of
2006 across all genres and certified double-platinum less than two months after its release.
The "Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus" album was released in 2007 and quickly became the #1 selling album. The double disc set features songs from the fictional Hannah Montana series and introduces fans to Miley Cyrus as a singer/songwriter. Cyrus co-wrote eight of the ten tracks on "Meet Miley Cyrus" and firmly establishes herself as a musician.
In 2007 Cyrus launched the "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds" concert tour. The soldout 70-date concert tour featured Miley as a solo artist and as her hit TV character Hannah Montana and quickly became one of the top grossing tours of 2007.
In early 2008 the "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," 3D feature film was released in theaters nationwide and quickly became the #1 movie in the country. The film captures the fun and excitement of the popular sold-out concert tour.
Cyrus recently completed her forthcoming studio album due out July 22, 2008 on Hollywood Records. In the spring of 2009 she will release a book sharing her inspiring story, spanning from her Southern roots in Tennessee to the excitement of her record-setting triumphs in TV, music and film. The book will feature never-before-seen photos, family stories, and a look at her inner circle of loved ones and will be published by Disney-Hyperion.
She is currently in production on "Hannah Montana: The Movie" and will be next be seen starring in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures' animated feature film "Bolt."
In her spare time, Miley has also contributed to charitable organizations including St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, City of Hope and Save the Children. She attributes much of her success and positive attitude to her family and her faith.
