Bio:

Deron Williams was born in Parkersburg, WV but grew up in Dallas, TX where was raised primarily by his mother. A former college basketball star herself, it was Denise Williams, that taught Deron the game. Before long, he was one of the best players in Dallas, TX at The Colony High School. After an outstanding high school career, Deron signed to play at the University of Illinois. By his junior year, he led Illinois to a number one ranking and to the 2005 National Championship Game - where the Fighting Illini fell to North Carolina. After his remarkable junior year, Deron left for the NBA Draft where he was selected third overall by the Utah Jazz.

Deron had big shoes to fill following the legacy of John Stockton, one of the best point guards in history but the ultra-competitive Deron stepped up to the challenge and quickly became an asset for Utah. After a successful rookie season, Deron blossomed his second year as he finished the season second in the NBA in assists and carried the Jazz to the Western Conference Finals.

In the 2007-08 season, Deron averaged twenty points and nine assists per game and appeared in 160 of a possible 164 games in first two years playing for Utah. He also won a gold medal in the Beijing games. His star continued to rise in 2009 and was named part of the NBA All-Star team.
